There’s nothing more frustrating than doing all the work to move your dreams forward, yet whatever you do, nothing seems to happen.
Trust me, I know how uncomfortable this holding pattern can be.
But, let me tell you a secret. That frustration and discomfort are both signs that your breakthrough is close by. How do I know? Because our limiting beliefs and ego only step in when we’re moving too close to the edge of our comfort zone.
I experienced this first hand as a ten year old trying to dive off the high board at the swimming pool. I’d get to the edge but no matter what I did, I couldn’t step off. It was too high. The fall would hurt. Who was I to think I could jump off something so big?
And you know what–it was all of those things–but I got there in the end!
The way I did it was going back to the lower board until I’d mastered it. Each time I stepped off it became easier and more natural, until finally I didn’t think about it. Then I climbed up the higher board and did my dive.
It was a pretty bad dive if I recall, but that was hardly the point. The point was to step off, and that’s what I did.
So, if you’re feeling frustrated and uncomfortable, consider ways to take smaller steps forward. One of my amazing heart-centered clients told me that the idea of running out of her comfort zone was scary, but she could definitely tiptoe!
Why not brainstorm one tiny tiptoe of a step you can do TODAY. And if you can’t think of anything, then let me give you a clue. It will be sitting there on your to-do list. In fact, it’s probably been there for quite some time. It might be a phone call, or some research, or the promise to start the day with a green juice. Whatever it is, today is the day to take the tiny step forward.
Comment and let me know how it goes and what came up for you while you’re doing it.
